Candlewood Suites proposed for Longmont

LONGMONT – Boulder-based real estate developers Stephen Tebo and David Chaknova are joint-venture partners in a project that could bring a 105-room hotel to the southwest corner of Longmont in an area that already has four hotels.
Tebo and Chaknova are partnering with hotel builder Jeff Lamont, president of Lamont Cos. based in Aberdeen, S.D., whose company will construct a Candlewood Suites Hotel on approximately five acres at 0 Clover Basin Drive owned by Tebo Chaknova II LLC, an entity created by Tebo and Chaknova.
Initial plans call for the hotel to be 56-feet tall, which exceeds the 45-foot height limit in that part of the city, said Don Burchett, a city planner. He said the next step will be for the developers to provide the planning commission with justification for a height variance or possibly modify their plans as the project moves forward in the planning process.
Candlewood Suites is a brand of the InterContinental Hotels Group based in Denham, United Kingdom. The brand is made up of extended-stay hotels targeting business travelers that are either company owned or run by a franchisee.

The four nearby hotels south of the property are a Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott and a Holiday Inn Express. Immediately to the north is the Crossings at Clover Basin, a hub of about a half-dozen restaurants that includes a Texas Roadhouse.

There are 13 hotels in Longmont, according to the Longmont Area Visitors Association.
