Brinkman adding second building at Mason Street Flats

Fort Collins — Brinkman Partners, which is re-building the first phase of Old Town’s Mason Street Flats apartment project after a fire, announced Thursday has acquired an additional site on which it will build a second apartment building.

That building will be located on the lot directly to the west at 210 Maple St.

The company began the re-construction of the first building in January; it had been destroyed in a fire Oct. 24. Work has also begun to restore the neighboring Penny Flats condominiums, which also sustained heavy damage in the blaze.

Once complete, the first building, a 30-unit complex, will offer a mix of “stylish” studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom units, the company said.

The second building will mirror the look and amenities of the first and include four stories of 21 one and two-bedroom units with tuck-under parking.

“Even with the lost time, Mason Street Flats is as significant as ever for the Fort Collins community. Our belief in this project led us to make the decision to move forward with a second building,” said Paul Brinkman, founding Partner and CEO of Brinkman Partners.

The first building will be completed and move-in ready in September; the second building will be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
