Simply Red, the largest fundraiser for Team Fort Collins, will be held on Friday, Feb. 8 at the Hilton Fort Collins from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event includes a presentation of the Lamplighter Award to Rayno and Patty Seaser, owners of The Egg & I and Fort Collins residents for more than 25 years. They are being recognized for their extensive community service efforts.
Funding Partners, a nonprofit community development financial institution, announced its financial participation in the acquisition of a portfolio consisting of 343 rental housing units across four properties in Fort Collins and Loveland. In acquiring the properties, the Fort Collins Housing Authority is able to preserve an inventory of apartments reserved for households earning less than 60 percent of the median income in Larimer County. The acquisition price of $24.6 million was financed through a combination of sources, including FirstBank, Funding Partners, Mile High Community Loan Fund and the City of Fort Collins.
The Colorado Enterprise Fund and Home State Bank have announced a partnership with the nonprofit technology incubator, Rocky Mountain Innosphere. Its investment to establish the Early Stage Loan Pool will support Innosphere startup companies. Home State Bank made a low interest loan of $250,000 out of its Community Reinvestment Act program to Colorado Enterprise Fund, which will serve as the fund administrator. CEF will also set aside up to $250,000 in additional funds for the loan pool.
Greeley-based Professional Finance Company donated to troops overseas as well as to local children in need last December for the fifth consecutive year. After collecting items for personal care and the home, PFC was able to mail 50 boxes to families overseas. PFC also hosted a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots, and was named as one of the largest company contributors for the 2012 Toy Drive in the Weld County area.
North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and McKee Medical Center in Loveland announced in January they have received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence in 2013. The distinction ranks NCMC and McKee among the top 5 percent of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, a provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals .
NEW LOCATION
Poudre Valley Hospital broke ground Jan. 17 on an outpatient cancer center in Fort Collins. The outpatient facility will be about 30,000 square-feet and is currently estimated at $11 million and is expected to be completed in 2014. Designed from a patient’s perspective, the center will have a centralized focus, from diagnostic services to treatment and care to survivorship.

The 2013 official Loveland valentine card and cachet were revealed Jan. 7 by the Loveland Chamber of Commerce. The unveiling kicked off the 67th annual Valentine Re-Mailing Program, the largest program of its kind. In addition to the design reveal, Grimm Brothers Brewhouse announced this year’s valentine beer, Bleeding Heart. Valentine cards can be purchased for $2.50 at the Loveland Chamber of Commerce as well as the Loveland Visitors Center and other local retailers including King Soopers, Safeway, Wal-Mart and Walgreens. Miramont Lifestyle Fitness, a Fort Collins-based fitness center, will be co-hosting a Biggest Loser-style weight loss challenge with Townsquare Media Inc. Twelve people will be selected to participate alongside three DJ team leaders and the personal training staff at Miramont from Feb. 1 through April 30. All participants will receive a complimentary three-month membership, personal training, nutritional counseling, among other prizes. Through a partnership with Fort Collins Utilities, Loveland Water and Power and Platte River Power Authority, the Larimer County Conservation Corps is offering free energy and water assessments and efficiency upgrades to qualifying residents through March 29. The basic assessments include a visual inspection of appliances, heating/cooling systems and insulation levels in walls, attics and crawlspaces. Corps members also will install free CFLs, programmable thermostats, retractable clotheslines, low-flow toilets, showerheads and faucet aerators and provide conservation tips and rebate opportunities to help lower energy and water bills. Loveland’s Restore Health Center recently added CoolSculpting, a non-invasive fat reduction technique, to its list of aesthetic and medical services. The process uses controlled cooling to damage and freeze fat cells without harming surrounding skin or tissue, and allows the body to eliminate fat cells permanently without dieting or surgery. On average, one CoolSculpting procedure removes 30 percent of the treated area’s fat cells. The center is hosting a free open house with consultations on Feb. 1. E.L. Events will be hosting its third annual Snow Sculpture in the Dark event, slated for Feb. 5-10, along Fourth Street in downtown Loveland. E.L. Events is seeking businesses to compete in its snow stomping competition and its artisan show, as well as businesses and individuals to participate in its parade. Fort Collins-based Neighbor to Neighbor and Homelessness Prevention Initiative have joined efforts to provide emergency rent assistance to families in need during the January through March grant cycle. The federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program provided $15,000 in funding, facilitated by the United Way of Larimer County. Combined, the organizations expect to reach between 45 and 50 households with the funding.
