Changes

Avert Inc. of Fort Collins announced termination of a major agreement with Ameritech Information Access LLC, an affiliate of Ameritech Corp., to provide pre-employment screening information to its customer base through Ameritech’s online service, CivicLink. The termination was the result of a new direction in business strategies at Ameritech Information Access. Avert may gain other contracts through different Ameritech business units.

Hach Co.’s board of directors has approved revisions to a dual-class stock structure previously announced in March. The dual-class structure is designed to give the Loveland company additional flexibility to issue shares for acquisition or financing purposes, preserve stability and increase liquidity, all without diluting voting power of existing stockholders. A special stockholder meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 23.

Loveland Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies has opened its new facility at 2923 Ginnala Drive. The clinic now accommodates more than 10,000 patient visits each year. The new 12,000-square-foot clinic was designed by Al Hauser of Architecture One and built by Clark Construction. It is staffed by 19 people, including three full-time physicians. New Products & Services

Mountain Air Express unveiled an airplane painted in honor of Cheyenne and Cheyenne Frontier Days recently. The plane, a Dornier 328, bears Frontier Days’ official red and black emblem and a bull rider painted on the tail of the craft. Officials say the plane underscores the airline’s commitment to Cheyenne.

VanGO and Hewlett-Packard Co. have created a commuter shuttle service between the Fort Collins and Greeley H-P sites. About 10 people take the shuttle each way on an average day. Cost is $1.50 for a one-way trip. The van departs from Fort Collins at 7:15 a.m. and makes its way back from Greeley at 4:30 p.m. Similar services are being considered between the Fort Collins and Loveland H-P sites and between Loveland and Greeley sites.

Deena Brewer, owner of RockyRoad Publicity & Sports Photography of Timnath, is exhibiting her work at Advanced Office Systems’ new location at 634 S. Mason St. in Fort Collins. Her work includes local athletes competing at both local and national events. She also produces work for The Northern Colorado Business Report. Carousel Dinner Theatre in Fort Collins has been chosen to host the 1997 National Dinner Theatre Association Fall Conference from Oct. 18 to 21. Representatives from more than 47 dinner theatres from around the country will gather to discuss management, ethics and budgeting of the dinner-theater industry.

Atrix Laboratories Inc. of Fort Collins has had its filing for a new drug application Atridox accepted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Atridox is a subgingival antibiotic therapy for periodontal disease. Pending regulatory approvals, the drug will be marketed in the United States and Europe by Block Drug Corp. of Jersey City, N.J.

Brock and Co. CPAs, with offices in Fort Collins, Longmont and Boulder, now is an authorized reseller and consultant for BusinessWorks accounting software packages for small growing businesses. The company also has been named in the top 15 accounting firms of the mountain states by the national publication, The Practical Accountant.

The Larimer County Commissioners have earmarked $15,000 for the Fort Collins/Larimer County Film Commission Office. The Larimer County Economic Development Advisory Board will monitor progress of the commission.

Deals

Symbios Logic Inc. of Fort Collins has joined the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance and will work toward the definition, development, refinement, testing and industrywide adoption of open intellectual-property standards for the system-chip industry. Standardization will accelerate industry growth, speed design cycles and reduce support investments.

Applied Computer Technology Inc. of Fort Collins has been awarded a five-year exclusive contract to provide desktop personal computers to students, faculty, staff, labs and offices through a standardized purchasing program sponsored by the University of Oklahoma in Norman and affiliated institutions. The contract is valued at $3 million annually.

Awards & Honors

Horse Classics Calendar recently selected four photographs taken by Ann Clarke of Loveland for its 1998 calendars. Clarke’s work has appeared in the calendars since 1994.

Express Personnel Services of Fort Collins and Loveland was recognized as one of the staffing firm’s outstanding franchises at the Express International Leadership Conference recently in Dallas. The award is based on sales, training and commitment to the local community. The unit is owned by Paul and Jeanne Fangman.

Behlen Manufacturing Co., a supplier of metal building systems, recently honored King Contracting Inc. of Loveland and OD’s Sports Crossing LLC of Fort Collins during its National Builders Meeting in Florida. King Contracting and OD’s received the “Building of the Year” award for OD’s new facility at 218 Smoky St. King Contracting also received awards for total sales of pre-engineered metal building systems in 1996.

The Ann Garrison Scholarship in Economics has been established at the University of Northern Colorado to honor the retiring economics professor. In addition to her work at the university, Garrison worked with the Greeley/Weld Economic Development Action Partnership Inc., conducted economic analyses, gathered data and developed economic indices specific to Greeley. Kodak Colorado Division of Windsor was named the Northern Colorado Company of the Year by the American Production and Inventory Control Society. APICS is recognized as an authority on production and inventory management and integrated resource management.

The University of Northern Colorado’s College of Education has been accredited under new, performance-oriented standards of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. UNC is one of 47 colleges or schools of education earning the accreditation in the council’s most recent round of decisions.

Greeley Dodge Inc. has been awarded the 1997 Chrysler Five Star Award for Excellence. One out of four Chrysler Corp. dealers earn the status. The award is based on consistent “superior satisfaction” ratings from customers based on sales and service.

United Way of Loveland-Berthoud-Estes Park has awarded $654,051 to 33 human-service agencies serving the communities. The agencies receiving funding provide an array of services, including basic and emergency needs, health, wellness and disabled services, counseling and youth and elderly services.
