Boulder Museum receives $500K grant from NEH

BOULDER — The Boulder History Museum has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities that will be used to help build the planned Museum of Boulder.

The grant will be applied toward retiring the museum’s debt on the former Masonic Lodge building at 2205 Broadway, which the museum purchased in April 2013.

The museum in conducting an $8 million capital campaign to convert the Masonic Lodge into a museum.

WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

The group has raised nearly 70 percent its $8 million goal and anticipates raising much of the remaining $2.5 million through community support before the end of 2015.

Plans for the new museum include displays on Boulder’s history and showcasing the community’s leadership in science, technology, sports and natural foods, and a gallery for exhibits from the Smithsonian and other nationally recognized museums around the country. The lower level of the building will house a children’s museum.
