Boulder kicking off review of development fees with public info session

BOULDER – The city of Boulder on Monday, as it kicks off its review of development-related fees and taxes, will host an informational seminar for the public on the topic that will include outlining ways that community members can be involved in the process.

The seminar will be held at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 1777 Broadway.

The city is undertaking the review to see if there are changes that could be made to improve the way the city assesses impact fees and excise taxes on developers.

Such fees help the city do things like build new facilities, purchase equipment, develop transportation options, support affordable housing and pay for public art installations.

A technical working group of community members will provide feedback on the work of city staff and consultants hired by Boulder to conduct the studies.

“This update is particularly interesting as we are looking at a wide variety of focus areas, including housing, transportation, art, parks and recreation, and facilities for fire, police and human services,” project manager Chris Meschuk said.
