Boulder Economic Summit to profile city’s talent-driven economy

BOULDER — Boulder’s talented workforce, and how it drives the local economy, will be examined May 21 at the eighth annual Boulder Economic Summit.

Presented by the Boulder Economic Council along with a host of co-sponsors including BizWest, the summit will spotlight creative approaches that Boulder companies are taking to optimize employee attraction and engagement. Keynote addresses will be delivered by Rich Wobbekind, senior associate dean of the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business, and Kendra Prospero, a recruiter and career counselor at Turning the Corner LLC.

Clif Harald, executive director of the Boulder Economic Council, said breakout panels will examine ways to prepare talent for today’s and tomorrow’s jobs, managing a multigenerational workforce, attraction and recruitment of talent and engaging workers to maximize productivity.

Representatives from companies such as Google, Zayo Group, SolidFire, Boulder Brands, MiRagen, RoundPegg, Ball Aerospace, Celestial Seasonings, Sphero, Vertiba and Rally Software will participate in the discussions, along with leaders from educational institutions such as CU Boulder, Front Range Community College, Boulder Valley Schools and GalvanizeU.

More than 300 attendees are expected to attend, Harald said, adding that it’s a chance to hear “some of the crazy and cool ideas that some of our leading companies are doing to make the most of the talent they have.”

The summit will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 21, in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the University Memorial Center on the CU Boulder campus. Registration is $65 for Boulder Chamber members and $85 for others, and can be made online.
