Boulder councilman Bob Yates calls for decrease in municipalization funding

A Boulder city councilman is calling for a major decrease in funding in 2017 for the city’s efforts to create a municipal electric utility.

The Daily Camera reports that councilman Bob Yates believes the city’s Energy Future division that is running the municipalization push should not be allowed to use the $934,000 from the city’s general fund that is currently budget but rather should be limited to the $2.2 million portion from a voter-approved Utility Occupation Tax aimed specifically at funding the exploration of municipalization.
