Boulder clothing company Fresh Produce’s sale of assets approved by court

BOULDER — Longtime Boulder clothing company Fresh Produce, which has operated under bankruptcy protection since early April, said Friday that it has completed a sale of its assets to a new company, Blue Stripe, LLC and that the sale has been approved by the bankruptcy court.

The new group includes the original founders of Fresh Produce, as well as others. Founder Mary Ellen Vernon, reached by phone Friday, declined to comment on the transaction.

According to a statement, Fresh Produce will continue to sell its products wholesale, as well as online and through several company owned stores, including those in Boulder; Tucson, Ariz.; and La Jolla and Palm Desert, Calif.; among others. Twelve other stores will be liquidated by Tiger Capital Group, which had acquired them through the bankruptcy process.

“On behalf of all of us here at Fresh Produce, I want to say ‘thank you’ to our employees, our customers, our wholesale accounts, and our vendors for their patience and support over the last few months,” Vernon said in a statement. “We are very pleased to have been able to orchestrate a transaction for the company that will allow Fresh Produce to continue operations and to carry on our promise to add color to the lives of women everywhere.”
