Boulder-based food manufacturer recalls product

BOULDER – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Wednesday that Boulder-based food manufacturer American Outdoor Products Inc. issued a recall on fettuccini alfredo with chicken products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.

The inspection service said the products subject to recall are the 7.5-ounce foil pouches of Backpackers Pantry Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken.

The problem was discovered by a retailer in Vermont, who noticed that the packaging for Alfredo With Chicken carried an ingredients list for Jamaican Style Jerk Rice with Chicken, which led to the recall.

Elaine Sims, a spokeswoman for American Outdoor Products, said the company has alerted is customers to be on the lookout for the misbranding. She said so far, of the 200 customers who have responded, only one store found four mislabeled pouches.
