FORT COLLINS — The Bohemian Foundation on Monday named Jesse Elliott director of the Music District, a five-building campus along south College Avenue slated to open in September that is aimed at creating a hub for musicians, music-related businesses and nonprofits.

Elliott — a rock musician and founder of two bands, These United States and Ark Life — has previously served as a consultant for the Music District through Range Music Ecosystems, a company he co-founded.

He will oversee all operational aspects of the Music District, including management, programming and community relations.

“Jesse brings tremendous breadth of experience to this position,” Bohemian Foundation programs director Tom Scharf said in a release. “He is both a longtime working musician as well as an effective and highly innovative leader with a track record of successfully initiating and implementing projects. We’re excited to see how the Music District develops under his directorship.”

The Music District, a 57,000-square-foot campus spanning 619 to 639 S. College Ave., will have communal areas and music-industry coworking spaces; community radio and multimedia space; rehearsal rooms; and retail space, as well as some short-term residences for musicians.

Community radio station KRFC-FM 88.9 moved out of the building at 619 S. College Ave. last summer with the intent of returning to the Music District once it’s completed.
