Banner Medical Group has appointed two new chief medical officers — including a Northern Colorado physician — to lead the group’s 800 physicians in seven states.

Dr. J.P. Valin, who serves as the CMO for Banner Health’s Western Region, which includes Northern Colorado, has been selected as one of the CMOs for the group as a whole, with the title CMO of Clinical Practice.

In this new capacity, he will supervise the chair and vice-chairs of clinical disciplines and help Banner attain industry leadership in clinical practices.

Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), part of the UnitedHealthcare family, has pledged its commitment to uplift these communities through substantial investments in organizations addressing the distinct needs of our communities.

Valin has served on the board of directors of the Big Thompson Medical Group since 2003 and will continue to work from the Banner Corporate Center in Greeley.

The second CMO is Ed Clarke, who has been named CMO of Clinical Operations. Clarke is new to Banner Medical Group and will work in partnership with administrative colleagues in pursuing clinical operational excellence, according to a release from Banner.

Clarke will also supervise the Banner Medical Group practice site physician leaders.
