Banner Health planning Fort Collins facility

FORT COLLINS — Banner Health has submitted plans to the City of Fort Collins to build what could be a hospital on a 25- to 30-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Harmony Road and Lady Moon Drive.

The parcel is part of the 85-acre Presidio mixed-use project, being developed by Les Kaplan.

But whether Banner actually builds a hospital or something else remains up in the air. Banner has no hospital in Fort Collins at the moment.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

The company wasn’t offering much in the way of clarifying, though its statement hinted at something big.

“The submission of the development plan for review and approval is a part of the Banner Health due diligence stage of the land acquisitions process for a long-term project,” Jim Ferando, president of Banner Health Western Region, said in a statement.

“We have not decided upon any specific facilities to be built at this time, including construction of hospital beds,” Ferando said. “Development plans will be based upon community need and growth in demand for Banner services through out partnerships with other quality health care organizations like Kaiser Permanente.”

Fort Collins has just one hospital, Poudre Valley Hospital, which is owned by University of Colorado Health. Two other hospitals are available in Loveland, McKee Medical Center, owned by Banner, and Medical Center of the Rockies, owned by UCHealth.

Greeley is also home to a Banner hospital, North Colorado Medical Center.

Banner submitted renderings and site plans to the city as part of the conceptual review process, according to the company’s statement.

The process is anticipated to take about nine months.

Banner recently partnered with Kaiser, which opened clinics in Fort Collins and Loveland earlier this month. Kaiser members will be able to access hospital care at Banner hospitals in Greeley and Loveland.
