The Flagstaff House restaurant, located on Flagstaff Mountain overlooking Boulder, was honored with the Wine Spectator Grand Award for its commitment to fine wine, an award it has won each year since 1983. Flagstaff House, 1138 Flagstaff Road, has a 15,000-bottle wine cellar, and is one of 80 restaurants worldwide to win the grand award this year. The restaurant also was named an Open Table Diner’s Choice Top Ten Best American Restaurants in Colorado, based on the votes and ratings of more than 400,000 diners.

The University of Colorado-Boulder’s Facilities Operations, a division of the Department of Facilities Management, received the highest institutional honor bestowed by APPA, the association serving educational facilities professionals. The annual award is based on an analysis of leadership, strategic and operational planning, customer focus, information and analysis, development and management of human resources, process management and performance results. APPA originally was an acronym for the Association of Physical Plant Administrators of Universities and Colleges. The organization’s name was changed in 1991 to APPA: The Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers. It has a membership of more than 5,000 individuals and 1,500 learning institutions
