Adam and Larry Avery, the father-son team that founded and financed Avery Brewing in 1993, have bought the 5.6- acre property at 4910 and 4920 Nautilus Court in the Twin Lakes Technological Park in northeast Boulder.
The Averys paid $1.525 million for the land, which they bought from El Monte Associates LLC.
Avery plans to build a brewery for wholesale production, a tap room and restaurant and a merchandise shop. The location will offer tours and include an aerial walkway for self-guided tours, according to the press release.
“We have some time to go before calling the movers, but after nearly 20 years of brewing in our mish-mash of nonadjacent warehouses and trailers, it feels awesome to get to this point,” president and brew master Adam Avery said in the release.
Avery’s current tap room, brewing facility and warehouse space is scattered over several spots in the industrial park at 5763 Arapahoe Ave. Avery currently employs 80 people, and it expects to grow with the expansion.
The brewery and restaurant are scheduled to be complete in spring or early summer 2014 and will have 75,000 square feet of production and warehouse space. It will have a 120-barrel brew house, an immediate capacity of 120,000 barrels per year and an eventual capacity of 350,000 barrels per year, according to the release.
Avery is adding equipment to its current site that could bring its potential maximum volume up to 65,000 barrels per year.
