Arnold to replace Lund as state’s economic development chief
DENVER – Fiona Arnold, former executive vice president and general counsel for Vail Resorts (NYSE: MTN), will serve as executive director of the state’s economic development office, replacing outgoing Ken Lund, who has resigned.
Gov. John Hickenlooper said Thursday that he appointed Arnold to head the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Arnold comes to the economic development office from her real estate development company River North Investment Co. LLC, which focuses on commercial and residential urban redevelopment projects.
At Vail Resorts, Arnold helped oversee the company’s acquisitions and transactions. Arnold also once worked as associate general counsel at Western Gas Resources Inc., acquired by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: APC), which operates in Weld County.

Lund served as chief legal counsel to Gov. John Hickenlooper in January 2011 before moving to the economic development office. Lund is leaving the office to take a position as managing director of PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he will provide economic development assistance to state and local governments, companies and universities.
“His strategic implementation of the Colorado Blueprint is unmatched in execution in both public and private sector industries, and played a big part in jumpstarting Colorado’s economic recovery,” Hickenlooper said in a statement.
Colorado Blueprint, an economic development plan for regions in the state, was developed with county and regional economic development organizations.
Lund “seemed to move the agenda forward in every capacity,” said Stacy Johnson, director of economic development for the town of Windsor. “He has been able to work with a lot of the communities and done a lot of outreach.”
Northern Colorado economic development officials plan to update the region’s Blueprint plan in the coming months, she said.
