CSU donors top fundraising records

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State University set single-year donor records in its quest for $1 billion.

More than 42,000 people, including 18,000 alumni, donated $190 million to the university. The total number is a record for the institution, reports the Coloradoan, and the amount raised is the second-highest on record.

Additionally, a single gift of $53.3 million from alumnus Walter Scott Jr. set a donor record. Scott’s donation went on to help create the Walter Scott Jr. College of Engineering.

The $190 million was for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, which ended July 1. The school is now $813.5 million into its “State Your Purpose” campaign, which aims to raise $1 billion by 2020.
