Viega breaks ground on U.S. headquarters in Interlocken

BROOMFIELD — Viega LLC, a designer and manufacturer of high-tech plumbing equipment, has begun construction on its new U.S. headquarters and training facility in the Interlocken business park in Broomfield.

Viega LLC, a subsidiary of German-based The Viega Group, will move its U.S. headquarters to 575 Interlocken Blvd., from Wichita, Kan., when construction is completed in late 2018.

Situated on 11.8 acres, Viega LLC’s campus in Broomfield will include a 55,000-square-foot headquarters building and a 24,000-square-foot training facility.

The headquarters will be a Class A office building featuring a sweeping curved roof, a design inspired by Viega’s innovative plumbing fittings. The building will incorporate a variety of Viega solutions, including press fittings, fire-suppression systems, radiant heating and cooling, carrier systems and manifolds. A courtyard will feature Viega’s radiant snow-melt systems.

The training facility is in addition to the company’s existing training facility in Nashua, N.H., which will continue to operate.

The facility in Broomfield will offer hands-on, interactive training on Viega systems and solutions. The training facility will incorporate and highlight Viega fittings, radiant heating and cooling systems, fire-suppression systems and carrier systems.

The buildings, designed by Oz Architecture, will have glass curtain walls that will let in natural light and provide great views.

“We’ve received such a warm welcome in Colorado already and are excited to establish our new campus,” David Garlow, Viega LLC’s chief executive, said in a prepared statement. “Our new state-of-the-art headquarters and training center will provide a working environment that our colleagues and customers deserve and will highlight our innovative products.”

Viega LLC employs nearly 600 people in North America, with a central manufacturing and distribution center in McPherson, Kan., and distribution centers in Nevada, Georgia and Pennsylvania. It will employ about 200 people in Broomfield, with an average annual wage of more than $85,000.

Broomfield’s economic-development department, the Colorado Economic Development Commission and the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp., worked together to recruit Viega, which had been considering Kansas or Georgia for its U.S. headquarters

The city of Broomfield is providing Viega rebates for the building use-tax, business personal property tax and real property tax, totaling approximately $500,000. The Colorado Economic Development Commission approved Viega for $223,380 in incentives for the 20 jobs the new training center will bring to Broomfield.

The Viega Group, in business for more than 115 years, has 4,000 employees worldwide and specializes in pipe-fitting installation technology, including metal-press systems for industrial, commercial and residential projects.
