Charlotte company buys ViaWest for $1.675B

Information-technology company ViaWest has been sold for $1.675 billion.

The Denver Post reports that Peak 10, based in Charlotte, N.C., purchased the IT and data-management company from Shaw Communications. ViaWest operates 30 data centers in the United States and Canada.

The combined company will be led by Peak 10 CEO Chris Downie, while ViaWest co-founder and CEO Nancy Phillips will serve as executive chair of the board.
