KBI Biopharma expands facility in Boulder

BOULDER — KBI Biopharma Inc. is spending $30 million to expand its facilities Boulder and Durham, N.C.

The JSR Corp. subsidiary is increasing its biopharmaceutical-manufacturing capacity at both locations.

In Boulder, the company is expanding its capability in microbial production to add flexibility and take on smaller projects. The facility at 2500 Central Ave. currently uses a 1,500-liter vessel and will add on a 300-liter single-use vessel as part of the expansion. The smaller size will mean KBI can take on smaller projects to add capacity.

Solar Operations and Maintenance for Commercial Properties

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

The Durham facility, which uses mammalian cells, is adding two 2,000 liter single-use bioreactors.

“These expansions support our vision for growth and create the opportunity to better serve our customers in all areas of the biopharmaceutical industry,” said KBI president Tim Kelly, in a prepared statement. “We are increasing our capacity for existing offerings and expanding into emerging technologies which will enable KBI to serve as a true partner and trusted advisor to our clients as our industry continues to grow.”
