Denver emerges as finalist for Outdoor Retailer show

Colorado’s efforts to lure the Outdoor Retailer show to Denver have moved one step closer, with the Denver Post reporting that the Mile High City has been named one of three finalists.

Outdoor Retailer organizers are not discussing the finalists, but other cities vying for the show include Portland, Las Vegas, Reno, Indianapolis and Chicago. The Outdoor Retailer winter and summer shows lure 20,000 attendees each.

Emerald Expositions, which owns the Outdoor Retailer shows, announced in February that they would move the shows from Salt Lake City in protest of the state’s policies on public lands. That set off a frenzy of proposals from other cities to land the shows, including Denver.
