McWhinney, Stonebridge plan hotel at Centerra in Loveland

LOVELAND — McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc. of Loveland and Centennial-based Stonebridge Cos. announced on Thursday that construction will begin in June on a Courtyard By Marriott at Centerra in Loveland.

Plans for the four-story, 101-room hotel include a bistro and lounge, more than 1,200 square feet of meeting space, fitness center, a market, pool, hot tub and guest laundry. The hotel is expected to open in summer 2018.

The hotel will be built off Sky Pond Drive and Centerra Parkway, just south of The Promenade Shops at Centerra. The hotel will incorporate local artwork and will connect with surrounding community amenities, including Chapungu Sculpture Park, and be within walking distance of nearby shopping and dining experiences.

David Crowder, McWhinney’s vice president of of community development and general manager of Centerra, said the area is growing at a rapid pace.

“With that growth we also expect more visitors,” Crowder said in a prepared statement. “The new Courtyard by Marriott will provide companies in the area with a convenient location for guests and will give visitors a place to call home.”

McWhinney’s master-planned community Centerra encompasses 3,000 acres of open space and lakes, homes, retail, dining and businesses.

The community is home to hundreds of companies employing more than 7,000 people, 1.5 million square feet of retail space including more than 30 restaurants, three hotels, a health club, school and miles of trails and open space with views of the Front Range.
