UQM Technologies lands $2.2 million order in China

LONGMONT – UQM Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UQM) on Wednesday said it has received a $2.2 million order to provide fuel-cell compressor systems to a manufacturer in China.

Longmont-based UQM Technologies is expected to begin shipping its R340 fuel-cell system this summer and be completed by fall.

The compressor systems are a key component in hydrogen-powered fuel-cell systems. They are designed for light-duty autos, and in this deal, the unnamed original equipment manufacturer will use them in minivans.

“We have been working with our customer for over a year on this program and are very pleased to receive this significant order from them,” said Joe Mitchell, UQM’s president and chief executive. “These systems, which include the motor, controller, compressor and associated software, are ideal for ease of maintenance, long-term durability and low lifetime operational cost.”
