Colorado Springs Chamber exec to become Gardner’s state director

COLORADO SPRINGS — A key member of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce staff is leaving his position to work for U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colorado.

The Colorado Springs Business Journal reports that Andy Merritt, chief defense industry officer for the chamber, will start his new position as Gardner’s state director, April 26. He will replace Chuck Poplstein.

Merritt has served as chief defense industry officer for the chamber since January 2013. Prior to that, he worked for Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Colorado, and for former U.S. Sens. Hank Brown and Wayne Allard.
