Unemployment in Boulder, Larimer, Broomfield counties up slightly in February
DENVER — The estimated unemployment rate in three of the four counties that make up the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado increased slightly in February compared with the previous month, according to a report released Friday by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
The report on counties is based on a monthly survey of households and is not adjusted for seasonal workers.
Boulder County’s 2.8 percent unemployment rate in February was up from 2.6 percent in January; Larimer County, 3 percent, up from 2.9 percent in January; Broomfield County, 3.1 percent, up from 3 percent in January. Weld County held steady from the previous month at 3.3 percent.

Boulder County had 180,346 people employed, with 5,232 looking for work, according to the report.
Larimer County had 184,677 people employed in February and 5,698 looking for work.
Broomfield County had 35,822 people employed and 1,135 looking for work.
Weld County had 146,742 people employed and 5,016 seeking jobs.
Using a survey of businesses, considered more accurate than a survey of households, the labor department said the unemployment rate statewide was 2.9 percent in February, down four-tenths of a percentage point from 3.3 percent. The number of Coloradans participating in the labor force increased by 52,600, total employment increased 64,000, and the number of unemployed decreased 11,400.
The national unemployment rate declined from 4.9 percent in February last year to 4.7 percent in February of this year.
