Blue Federal Credit Union opens third branch in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS — Blue Federal Credit Union on Monday opened a 2,800-square-foot branch at 2261 E. Drake Road just east of Timberline Road, its third in Fort Collins.

Blue Federal is the result of the merger of Wyoming-based Warren Federal Credit Union and Broomfield-based Community Financial Credit Union in April of last year.

Blue Federal operates branches at 136 W. Mountain Ave. in Old Town and at 181 Boardwalk Drive east of South College Avenue. It also has branches in Broomfield, Boulder, Wellington and Wyoming.

Construction on this latest branch began in June 2016. It features a teller pod, where customers can be shoulder-to-shoulder with tellers looking at the same screen, and what the credit union calls a next-generation ATM that allows members to complete full transactions. It also allows members of credit unions participating in a co-op shared branching network to conduct transactions.

“With our Drake branch design and next-generation ATM, we wanted to accomplish our goal of not only conveniently serving our members, but also becoming a hub for our shared branching members,” said Stephanie Teubner, Blue Federal Credit Union’s chief executive.

Blue Federal built the branch as part of its Community Plaza and professional retail space, which has three 2,500-square-foot office condos for professional tenants and two 10,000-square-foot pads for future development.

Blue Federal will host a grand-opening week for its new branch April 3-8 that will conclude with a “block party” themed event Saturday, April 8. The block party is open to the public and will have food, drinks, giveaways and feature partnering local businesses­.
