Boulder planning board votes to extend tall-building moratorium

BOULDER — This city’s moratorium on exemptions to limits on building heights will be extended for 18 months if the City Council accepts a Boulder Planning Board recommendation.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports that the Planning Board voted unanimously Thursday evening to recommend the extension to the City Council, which will vote on the meausure on a first reading next week.

Boulder limits new-building heights to 35 feet in most of the city, 38 feet downtown and 40 feet in industrial areas. However, property owners can seek exemptions to the limits, seeking approval for buildings up to 55 feet in height.
