UQM Technologies partnering with Meritor on electric axle systems
LONGMONT — UQM Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UQM) announced on Thursday it has entered an agreement with Michigan-based Meritor Inc. to develop electric axle systems for commercial vehicles.
Meritor’s mechanical drivetrain components will be combined with Longmont-based UQM’s electric motor, controls and software.
The benefits of the system are expected to allow customers in the medium- and heavy-duty electric-vehicle commercial markets to improve on component packaging requirements, realize cost-savings from integration and increased vehicle performance.
