Kate Hudson’s Fabletics to open store in Boulder

BOULDER — Fabletics, the activewear company co-founded by actor Kate Hudson, plans to open a Boulder retail location in 2017, one of a dozen stores planned nationwide during the new year.

Fabletics operates a digital platform and membership base of 1 million but has grown rapidly in terms of physical retail locations. The new stores, combined with 18 existing locations, will bring Fabletics total retail outlets to 30 in just 23 months, the company said in a press release.

The company said it will work with high-profile mall developers such as Simon, Westfield and Macerich in opening the new stores, which will average slightly more than 2,200 square feet.

The stores are slated to open before fall 2017, with one in Frisco, Texas, opening in March.

The Boulder store — at an undisclosed location — will open in the second quarter, along with stores in Indianapolis; Lexington, Ken; Schaumburg, Ill; and Portland, Ore. Beginning in July, additional Fabletics stores will open in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Cerritos, San Jose, San Francisco and San Diego, Calif.; and Paramus, N.J.

Fabletics already operates a Denver store in the Cherry Creek shopping center.

Fabletics operates a member-based program for both online and offline shopping, but non-members also can shop as guests.

“Our inspiration for the store was clear and simple – we aimed to bring a hint of the active lifestyle elements that shape our customers’ lives inside while keeping the main focus on our amazing product offering and delivering a seamless customer experience.  Less is more,” said Dustin Netral, senior vice president of operations for Fabletics. “Ultimately, the store was designed to enhance our overall brand experience, inviting customers to touch, feel and see the high-quality fabrications, latest innovations and newest designs, while making it as easy as possible for them to shop the way they like.”
