Town planner becomes Firestone’s town manager

FIRESTONE — Bruce Nickerson has been named the town of Firestone’s manager, following a 22-year stint as the town’s planner.

Nickerson replaces Wes LaVanchy, who resigned in May. David Montgomery, the town’s chief of police, had been serving as interim town manager.

Nickerson has been the acting town planner via a contract relationship since 1994, and has been instrumental in building much of Firestone. Town spokeswoman Kristi Ritter said Nickerson will continue as town planner in addition to becoming town manager, and he will focus on economic development.
