New Belgium Brewing expanding distribution to 46th state

FORT COLLINS — New Belgium Brewing Co. on Friday announced that the company will start distributing its beers in Massachusetts in February, a move that will leave only four states where the company’s beers aren’t yet available.

Bryan Simpson, spokesman for Fort Collins-based New Belgium, said Colorado’s largest craft brewery plans to enter those four remaining states — Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and Oklahoma — by the end of 2017.

Initial offerings in Massachusetts will include Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, Citradelic IPA and seasonal releases, both in kegs and bottles.

The company is partnering with several wholesalers in the state, including Girardi Distributors, Atlas Distributing, L. Knife and Son, Craft Brewers Guild, Seaboard Products Co., and Williams Distributing Co.

“Massachusetts is a great beer state with a long tradition of embracing good beer,” Rick Rush, New Belgium sales director for the Northeast and Canada, said of the home of Sam Adams parent Boston Beer Co. in a news release. “It’s a very competitive landscape and we aim to bring something new to the scene with our dynamic portfolio and strong emphasis on beer culture.”
