Orthopaedic & Spine Center buys Field Club naming rights at new CSU stadium

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State University on Monday announced that Othopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies has purchased the naming rights of the Field Club at the school’s new on-campus football stadium.

Terms of the deal were not announced, and a CSU spokesman referred questions about them to OCR. An official for OCR, 2500 E. Prospect Road, said the length of the deal is 11 years but declined to disclose the dollar value.

The sponsorship comes just weeks after New Belgium Brewing donated $4.3 million in exchange for the naming rights of the Porch, a hospitality area at the $220 million stadium slated to open for the 2017 season. CSU earlier this year also secured a $20 million gift stipulating that the stadium’s playing surface be named after former coach Sonny Lubick.

The Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Field Club will be located on the field level of the west stands between the CSU locker room and the home sideline.

“We are so fortunate to have the expert medical team at Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies caring for our student athletes,” CSU athletic director Joe Parker said in a news release. “In addition to world-class medical treatment, OCR continues to deepen the important long-standing relationship we share with them, and we are so grateful.”

OCR’s relationship with CSU and treating Rams athletes spans six decades. In addition to the Field Club naming rights, the new deal also establishes the company as the official Sports Medicine Team Physicians for CSU athletics.

“We’re very pleased to make a significant commitment to CSU athletics, the new stadium and the field club,” OCR CEO Mike Bergerson said in the release. “It’s going to be a first-class venue.”

CSU officials on Monday said that construction of the stadium — which will seat 36,000 and have standing room for another 5,000 — recently passed the halfway point.
