Greeley’s municipal court to open in modular digs Monday

GREELEY — Greeley’s Municipal Court, making way for construction of a new downtown hotel and convention center, will begin regular hours Monday in modular office space — three weeks later than it was supposed to.

The court has completed its move from the Lincoln Annex at 919 Seventh St. and will resume normal court proceedings at 1122 11th Ave. Free off-street parking is available immediately adjacent to the new facility, and court hours will remain the same as at its previous locations: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays.

The court was scheduled to move May 2 into the modular buildings on the Safeway lot now owned by the city, but code inspectors said the wiring wasn’t yet up to standards. Because work at the Lincoln site already had started, the courts moved into the basement of the city hall at 1000 10th St. until the contractor supplying the modular buildings, Williams Scotsman, corrected the issue at the site.

The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel is to have 147 rooms and suites in a six-story structure on the east half of the city-owned property, which also includes a pool and a full-service restaurant. That tower structure is attached to the convention center, which anchors the west side of the property and faces the city’s 1700-seat Union Colony Civic Center, a performance hall. The conference center will have 14,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes a 12,000-square-foot ballroom.
