Wisconsin firm acquires Longmont-based Mountain Molding

LONGMONT — Mountain Molding LLC near Longmont has been acquired by Tenere Inc., a provider of metal and plastic components and assemblies based in Dresser, Wis.

Financial terms of the deal that was announced Tuesday were not disclosed. It’s the second time in two years that Mountain Molding as been acquired. In 2013, the company was acquired by Arcady Capital Co., a Wichita, Kan.-based private-equity firm.

Mountain Molding, founded in 1976, is located along the Interstate 25 frontage road east of Longmont. It is a custom plastic-injection molding, tool-making and contract manufacturer serving industries including medical-device manufacturers, security and pet products. It has about 60 employees working in a 50,000-square-foot manufacturing space.

The acquisition broadens Tenere’s plastics offering, and enhances it services and capabilities allowing customers to go from product design and prototyping to production seamlessly. The company has four manufacturing plants, including one in Lakewood. It also operates Protogenic LLC in Westminster, which specializes in 3-D printing and rapid prototyping.
