USA Pro Challenge unveils route of Northern Colorado stage

Windsor and Weld County will get a quick taste of the Loveland-to-Fort Collins stage of this year’s USA Pro Challenge cycling race.

The race, slated for Aug. 17 to 23, unveiled its specific routes for each of the seven stages on Tuesday. Host cities for the race had been previously announced, with Stage 6 coming to Northern Colorado on Aug. 22.

Starting near the Budweiser Events Center, the 102-mile stage will first head north to Highway 392, then west to Windsor before looping back south toward Centerra, west through Loveland via First Ave. The race then heads out of town and makes a loop near Carter Lake before shooting north up Buckhorn and Stove Prairie roads toward Rist Canyon. The race then heads east on Rist Canyon Road, turns south for a pass by Horsetooth Reservoir and finishes in Old Town Fort Collins.
