Polls at odds on leader of Colorado governor’s race

A Suffolk University/USA Today poll of the Colorado election races released Wednesday afternoon shows that Colorado incumbent governor John Hickenlooper leads Republican Bob Beauprez by two percentage points.

That’s in stark contrast to a Quinnipiac University poll released just hours earlier that showed Beauprez leading the Democrat Hickenlooper by 10 points.

In the Suffolk poll of 500 likely general election voters conducted Sept. 13-16, 43 percent of respondents supported Hickenlooper compared to 41 percent for Beauprez, with 10 percent undecided and four additional candidates receiving single-digit support. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

The Quinnipiac poll of 1,211 likely voters had shown Beauprez, a former Congressman, to be leading the race 50-40 over Hickenlooper, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percent. That poll showed Beauprez with a 54-34 percent lead among men, with women nearly even.

The Suffolk poll covered multiple Colorado races, including the U.S. Senate race between Republican Cory Gardner and Democratic incumbent Mark Udall. The poll showed essentially a dead heat in that race, with Gardner leading 43 to 42 percent.

The Suffolk poll showed Udall leading in the Denver/Boulder area by a 22-point margin but tied or losing everywhere else.

As for one issue not on the ballot this fall, the Suffolk poll showed 50.1 percent of voters saying that they disagree with the decision to legalize recreational marijuana in Colorado, with 46 percent supporting the decision. Colorado voters approved recreational marijuana in the 2012 election, and the legalization went into effect this year.
