Rezoning needed for Sprouts in Loveland

LOVELAND – The Loveland City Council will conduct a public hearing Tuesday night on rezoning property from residential to commercial to make way for a natural grocery store at the intersection of N. Lincoln Avenue and E. Eisenhower Boulevard.

Phoenix-based developer Evergreen Devco Inc. is seeking to purchase various properties, including five residential properties on the west side of N. Jefferson Avenue, for a commercial development that would begin with a Sprouts Farmers Market.

A Sprouts a company spokeswoman on Tuesday said that Sprouts does not have a lease agreement signed but is working its way through the planning process.

Neighbors in the area have expressed concern over added noise and traffic, while 200 people have signed a petition supporting a potential natural grocers, according to city documents, with some of them using the Sprouts name.

Zach Lauterbach with Evergreen Devco told the planning commission in August that it has the five residential properties under contract, but would need the rezoning to move forward with the grocery store.

In Northern Colorado Sprouts has two locations in Fort Collins and one in Greeley. In the Boulder Valley, it has two locations in Boulder and single locations in Greeley, Longmont and Lafayette.
