Unemployment down in Larimer, Weld

Unemployment rates have dropped in both the Fort Collins and Loveland and Greeley metro areas, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In Fort Collins and Loveland, the rate dropped to 5.6 percent in July, compared to 6.2 percent in June and 6.7 percent in July 2012.

Unemployment in Greeley dropped to 7.5 percent in July, down from 8.3 percent in June and 9.1 percent in July 2012.

The statewide unemployment rate also decreased, falling to 6.9 percent in July, down more than a full percentage point from the previous July, when unemployment in the state was 8.3 percent.

Statewide, the largest private-sector job gains were in leisure and hospitality, professional and business services and construction. The largest decline over the year was in financial services.

The national unemployment rate in July decreased to 7.4 percent from 8.3 percent in July 2012.
