Pilgrim’s Pride to close Arkansas facility

GREELEY – Greeley-based Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. (Nasdaq: PPC) will close an Arkansas rendering facility in early September, leading to 29 job cuts, JBS USA confirmed Wednesday.

The facility produces chicken meal used in pet food, a JBS USA spokesman said in an email. Those operations will shift to another Pilgrim’s facility in Texas.

“The decision is based on supply chain and operational efficiencies that we cannot achieve in El Dorado,” the spokesman said.
