Betz retiring from AE, new CEO named
FORT COLLINS – Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (Nasdaq GM: AEIS)
announced its board of directors has appointed Garry Rogerson as the
company’s new CEO and board member effective Aug. 4.
Hans Betz, who has served as CEO since 2005, will continue as an adviser until Dec. 31.

“I am excited to join the rest of the leadership team at Advanced
Energy,” Rogerson said. “I share their vision for growth in both the
thin films and renewables business units.”
Rogerson is chairman of the board of Coherent Inc., and has served on
Coherent’s board since 2005. He was chairman and CEO of Varian Inc., a
major supplier of scientific instruments and vacuum products, from 2009
until the purchase of Varian by Agilent Technologies in May 2010.
Rogerson received his Ph.D. from the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
Betz said he was proud of AE’s accomplishments over the last six years.
“We have built a stronger, more focused company that is well positioned
for the future,” he said in a prepared statement. “I am very proud of
our accomplishments and feel that now is the appropriate time for me to
hand over leadership to Garry.”
In afternoon trading, shares of AE were down 31 cents at $10.14.
