Greeley using stimulus funds to make facilities energy efficient
GREELEY – Greeley will use $869,100 from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to fund energy efficiency projects at city facilities.
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy, via the state of Colorado, based on the city’s population.
Projects funded by the grant will include window replacement at City Hall, window refurbishment at the City Hall Annex and upgrades to the ventilation system at the Island Grove Events Center. The city estimates the projects will reduce energy costs at these facilities by at least 20 percent. The grant will also be used to provide energy audits and energy efficiency upgrades for commercial buildings. Details on those programs will be announced at a later date.
