Harmony Road bridge to be replaced in January

FORT COLLINS – The city of Fort Collins has received a $1.6 million grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation to replace the East Harmony Road bridge. The bridge east of Timberline Road was built in 1968, and does not meet current safety standards.

Work on the bridge replacement will take place from January through June 2010. The project is funded through a combination of city matching funds and the CDOT Surface Transportation Program grant.

Fort Collins has also joined with CDOT and the town of Windsor to apply for a $27 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to reconstruct the interchange at Interstate 25 and Colorado Highway 392.

If approved, the project would include a new bridge with turn lanes, bike and pedestrian facilities, an expanded park-and-ride lot and safety improvements with a realigned frontage road.

Grant awards are expected to be announced in February.
