UQM receives order for UK bus generators

FREDERICK — UQM Technologies Inc. (Amex: UQM) announced it has received an order for an undisclosed number of its patented PowerPhase 100 and PowerPhase 150 electric generators to power city buses in the United Kingdom.

The generators will be used by Traction Technology Plc to power hybrid electric power packs that will be coupled with diesel engines. The Traction Technology hybrid electric power pack is expected to enable city buses to meet new Euro V Diesel Emissions Standards while at the same time improving vehicle performance.

“We are pleased that Traction Technology has selected our highly efficient generator and propulsion system to power their hybrid electric power pack product,´ said Jon Lutz, UQM Technologies’ vice president of technology. “The energy efficiency of our motors and generators is a significant factor in enabling the city buses powered by their hybrid electric power pack to meet performance and emission objectives.”

Frederick-based UQM is a developer and manufacturer of power-dense, high-efficiency electric motors, generators and power electronic controllers for the automotive, aerospace, medical, military and industrial markets.
