More sales and use taxes collected in July

FORT COLLINS – Sales and use tax collections in Fort Collins were up by 13.2 percent in July compared to one year ago, according to a report released Monday.

Net taxable retail sales in June totaled $195.9 million compared to $181.9 million in 2006, which resulted in collections that were $280,289 higher than the amount expected based on seasonal patterns, the report noted.

Thirteen of 16 retail categories were up and eight reached double-digit growth, including amusement and recreation services (up 20.8 percent), auto dealers and service stations (up 18.4 percent) and garages and miscellaneous repairs (up 14.8 percent)

Total sales and use tax collections for the month were $6,744,386, a 13.2 percent increase over the same time last year.
