Anheuser-Busch scores nearly $14M in value from Peyton Manning’s Budweiser plug
Budweiser, which spent an estimated $15 million on Super Bowl advertisements, made nearly that amount back in free pub thanks to Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s unsolicited shout out after the game.
The Denver Post reports that Apex Marketing Group Inc., has pegged the value of Manning’s comments during post-game interviews — in which he twice said he planned to drink a lot of Budweiser — had risen to $13.9 million for Budweiser by Monday morning. That’s thanks to the fact not only that he said it but also that the remarks were still being talked about so prominently in media ranging from social to television.
Anheuser-Busch officials have said they did not pay Manning to make the remarks. Manning, however, owns a stake in an Anheuser-Busch distributorship in Louisiana.
