10 area companies honored for potential

Ten companies from the region have been named 2014 Colorado Companies to Watch as part of an annual award program conducted by the Edward Lowe Foundation in conjunction with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

Fifty Colorado companies in all made the list out of 1,200 that were nominated. The award is in its sixth year in Colorado, and companies cannot be included more than once.

The Companies to Watch program honors second-stage companies that have graduated beyond startup status and are performing strongly in the marketplace or developing innovative products. In addition to being headquartered in Colorado, nominees must be growth-focused, privately held companies that employ from six to 99 employees. They must have from $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue or working capital in place from investors or grants.

The 10 companies from Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer or Weld counties that were honored include:

A-1 Organics Inc., an organic recycling company based in Eaton.

Connect First Inc., a Boulder-based telecommunications company focused on hosted call center management products.

EcoVapor Recovery Systems LLC, a Greeley-based company that captures methane that escapes for oil and natural gas extraction.

EGauge Systems LLC, a Boulder-based provider of whole-house and renewable-energy monitoring solutions.

Gravity Renewables Inc., a Boulder-based company that develops and operates small hydroelectric power plants in the United States.

Hope Foods, an organic-foods company based in Louisville.

JustRight Surgical LLC, a Boulder-based medical device manufacturer that specializes in devices tailored for smaller spaces.

Niner Bikes, a Fort Collins-based mountain-bike company focused on the 29-inch wheel size.

Stratom Inc., a scientific and technical consulting services company based in Boulder.

TeamSnap Inc., a Boulder-based company whose app is used for coordinating sports teams and ongoing events.
